Six Factors That Caused Difficulties during the Atletico Madrid Transition
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Previously, Atletico Madrid was forced to swallow a 0-1 defeat from Barcelona who were at home. These results has made Atletico ranked sixth in the LaLiga standings.
Ahead of this season, Atletico coach, Diego Simeone, has warned that his team is in a transition period. Simeone even asked for time to carry out this transition process after the game against Barcelona.
“The team has given everything. They have ran with what the coach asked for,” Simeone said as quoted by Marca.
“Change will come. All parties must be patient and understand that we are in transition.”
“I am among those who are impatient. But it must be understood that we are currently in the process of change. We need time to develop,” continued Simeone.
In each transition process, of course a number of obstacles would arise and must be overcome. Here are six factors that are still becoming obstacles in Atletico’s transition.
1. Antoine Griezmann’s goal
This season Atleti were only able to achieve 22 goals from 20 matches. The record reflects that they greatly lost Griezmann. This is reasonable as during five years with Atletico, Griezmann became the club’s fifth highest scorer. Now the mainstay figure is no longer owned by Atletico.
2. Adaptation of Joao Felix
Many believes, one day Joao Felix will be able to win the Ballon d’Or award. But certainly he currently still needs time to become a real star.
At a very young age, Joao Felix bear the burden of his 127 million euro value paid by Atletico. Lack of experience and burden is still a test that must be overcome.
3. Diego Costa’s performance
The striker who has defended Chelsea this season has had difficulty in creating goals. Even so, Diego Costa still won the trust of Simeone. The coach must find a way to restore the striker’s productivity.
4. New Back Line
Atletico is currently occupied by new players such as Kieran Trippier, Felipe Monteiro, Mario Hermoso and Renan Lodi. Of course they need time to be solid.
5. New Game Style
With so many pillars leaving, Diego Simeone must try a new style. Previously Atletico was known as a strong and challenging team to beat. At the moment Simeone is trying another approach, the results of which have yet to be seen.
6. Loss of Character
Related to the fifth point, it could happen as Atletico seems to be losing character after the departure of pillar players like Diego Godin, Gabi Fernandez, Fernando Torres, Thiago Mendes, Raul Garcia, and Antoine Griezmann. Atletico has yet to find a figure who can be a leader on the field.
