Solari Has Positive Debut in Madrid Against Melilla

Santiago Solari
DBasia.news – One obstacle has been solved positively by Real Madrid new coach, Santiago Solari, who was appointed as the interim coach replacing Julen Lopetegui. El Real won 4-0 against Melilla on the first leg of Copa del Rey round of 32 by the goals of Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Alvaro Odriozola, and Cristo.
Even though they just played against the average team, victory is still a victory. Moreover, after the 1-5 defeat against Barcelona on the Clasico last weekend. The bad memory of that defeat will always be remembered by Madrid players and fans.
Most importantly for Madrid is to return to the victory track. According to Solari, the team played with commitment and joy, without the pressure after the defeat against Barcelona. He hopes this would be the turning point for Madrid.
“I don’t like to give out grades but the team did really well. We played the game with joy and commitment and that was seen in the final score. I can’t ask for more because this is the road to follow,” Solari said reported by Sport-English.
Real Madrid vs Melilla
The former Madrid player on 2000-2005 could only coach for two weeks according to the Spain football regulation. So, Madrid must be quick to make his contract permanent or find another coach. Solari won’t bother to think about that.
“The commitment is not mine, it’s to the shirt, with the institution, with the fans. Now I’m in with this group and we’re all together. We beat a good opponent, who played very well. We knew it would be a hard game,” Solari added.
“I come from the Segunda B and I know how hard it is. There are great teams and great coach in that category. The pitch was bad but the fans very good,” he concluded.
Next, Madrid will play against Real Valladolid in LaLiga (3/11) and Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League (8/11). Both matches would be the real test for Solari due to higher quality opponents compared to Melilla.
