Statue of Zlatan Ibrahimovic Burned by Malmo Fans

DBasia.news –  Malmo fans were upset because their idol, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, bought a large share of Malmo’s rival in Sweden, Hammarby.

For information, Malmo was Ibrahimovic’s first club before he decided to move to Ajax Amsterdam. Until the bomber traveled to several European and American clubs, the fan club of the Swedish giant still worshiped him.

However, their respect and love for the former Barcelona player vanished without a trace. This condition is the aftermath of his decision to buy 25 percent of Hammarby’s shares.

To note, Malmo and Hammarby are mortal enemies in the Swedish League. Rivalry on the ground was in fact transmitted to the stands of supporters.

No doubt, only a few hours after Ibra bought a minority stake in Hammarby, the Malmo fan who did not accept went straight to the statue of Ibra who was standing tall in front of the club’s headquarters. They burned and colored the statue which was only inaugurated a few months ago.

What makes the fan angry is not because of Ibrahimovic’s decision to buy Hammarby alone. But also his comments that call Malmo’s eternal rival as the best club in Sweden.

“Hammarby is a fantastic club with exceptional supporters who really respect Stockholm and Sweden. I always liked the club and its fans. Since then I have been impressed with what they have done both on and off the field,” Ibrahimovic said as reported by the Daily Mail, Wednesday (11/27/2019).
