DBasia.news –  England national team coach Gareth Southgate considers the decision not to play Raheem Sterling in the match against Montenegro in the 2020 European Cup Qualifiers as agreed by the entire squad.

England will play two European Cup 2020 Qualification matches against Montenegro at Wembley (11/15) and Kosovo (11/18). Sterling was called into the squad, however, Southgate will not play it against Montenegro because of the alleged ‘disturbance in the team’s private area’.

Sterling was allegedly making a fuss with Joe Gomez in the player dressing room. The heat of the relationship between the two players was allegedly a continuation of the story of Liverpool’s counter Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.

The Reds – nickname of Liverpool- 3-1 win over Manchester City at Anfield. Sterling, in addition to being intimidated by the host supporters, was also seen arguing with several other British players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Gomez.

“We made the decision not to involve Raheem for the match against Montenegro on Thursday (local time),” Southgate was quoted as saying on the FA’s official website.

“One of our biggest challenges and strengths is that we can separate the club’s rivalry from the national team. Unfortunately, the emotions in yesterday’s match (Liverpool and Man City) are still felt.”

“My feeling is that this is the right thing for the team to do with the attitude we took. Now the decision has been made with the agreement of the whole squad, it is important we support the players and focus on the game on Thursday night,” he stressed.

The absence of Sterling is presumed not to have a significant effect against Montenegro. In addition to England already ensuring a place in the 2020 European Cup group phase, Southgate also still has Jadon Sancho and Callum Hudson-Odoi to play on the wing.
