The Italian League May Be Off For a Month Due to Corona Threats

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  The number of victims due to the corona virus outbreaks continues to grow in Italy. This has made the local government postpone sporting competitions for one month.

Written by the Italian news agency, ANSA, Tuesday (3/3/2020), the number of victims killed by COVID-19 has reached 79 people, an increase of 27 people compared to Monday. A total of 2,263 people have been affected.

As a result of this, there was an urge to the Italian government from the public to temporarily stop all sporting events taking place in the country.

“Avoid all events for 30 days, including sport matches, which involve people gathering less than a meter from each other,” ANSA wrote.

“This is one of the proposals submitted by the science commission to Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, which can be integrated into the March 1 decree and adopted throughout the country,” the statement continued.

Previously, 10 Italian League matches had been postponed, but only in regions where the corona virus had spread, such as Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Marche and Liguria.

Later, matches that takes place outside these areas, such as the Coppa Italia semifinals between Juventus vs AC Milan, were also postponed.

So far, besides dismissing the match, the available options are to continue to play the match without spectators. Even so, so far there has not been any decision.

Especially for international level matches, Italian clubs will play in empty stadiums without spectators. Inter Milan have done it in the Europa League.

The same thing will most likely also be done by Atalanta, Juventus, AS Roma, and Napoli who also still plays in the Europa League and Champions League.
