Three FC Koln Members Positive of Covid-19, Bundesliga Continuation Threatened

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Plans to continue the Bundesliga competition 2019-20 season seems to be rethought by the Bundesliga authorities. This is because one of the participating clubs, FC Koln confirmed that three of their members were positively infected with the Covid-19 virus.

It was known after FC Koln’s management conducted a medical test on all club members. Reportedly three infected club members consisted of two players and one physiotherapist.

“Cologne conducted a corona virus test on Thursday (30/4) to the entire team and coaching staff, along with the management staff. Three people tested positive, all without symptoms,” the official statement of FC Koln said.

“After the assessment of cases by the responsible health authority, three people who tested positive will be quarantined for 14 days at home.”

FC Koln management refused to release the identity of the three positive corona virus members. This was to respect the privacy of the victims.

“The health and personal environment of the players and staff has priority above everything. The previous steps, as well as the regular test strategies, have proven themselves so that we can now react with individual solutions,” said club director Horst Heldt.

Although three of its members are infected with the corona virus, FC Koln does not plan to ask Budesliga to be stopped. Instead, they continue their training program with other club members with strict health protocols.

The German government will hold a meeting on 6 May to discuss permits for the continuation of the Bundesliga. The case of FC Koln will certainly be one of their considerations for making decisions.
