Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Newcastle United, Penalty Cancels Tottenham’s Victory
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur overheard unlucky fate in the third match of the English Premier League to host Newcastle United. Appearing to dominate and creating a number of opportunities throughout the match, Tottenham had to accept a 1-1 draw by their guests through an injury time penalty in the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, Sunday (27/9).
Jose Mourinho only made one change from the squad that was demoted in the 5-2 win over Southampton. In this match Giovani Lo Celso appeared as a starter to replace Tanguys Ndombele.
Tottenham immediately took the initiative to attack since the match began. When the game was only three minutes old, the hosts had created two successive chances. However, two chances Harry Kane could be broken by Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
After six minutes, Kane got another chance. Again, the opportunity failed to produce goals because of Darlow’s appearance. The pressure continued to be launched by the Spurs, even though they still didn’t produce a goal.
The deadlock was successfully broken by Tottenham in the 25th minute. Lucas Moura managed to continue Kane’s pass to change the position to 1-0. The Spurs almost doubled the score two minutes later through Kane. Once again, the opportunity was able to be broken by Darlow.
Half an hour running, Tottenham again failed to maximize opportunities. This time Son Hyung-min’s kick failed to produce a goal because it hit the goalpost. Goalkeeper is again Newcastle’s savior. On 42 minutes it is the turn of the crossbar that thwarts Son’s effort. 1-0 score lasted until the break.
Entering the second half, the game scenario did not change. The hosts continued their dominance in the first half.
In the 59th minute, Harry Kane got the chance to get the Spurs. Receiving Lucas Moura’s poke, Kane kicks off, but the captain’s kick ball is still right in Darlow’s arms.
After two minutes, Darlow, who was Newastle’s goalkeeper, returned to save the net. This time it was Lo Celso’s kick that he was able to brush off.
The Spurs continued to press Newcastle and were dominant in possession. However, Kane and his friends began to have difficulty penetrating the heart of the Newcastle defense. While the visitors began to occasionally test the Spurs back line.
In the 83rd minute, Darlow again becomes a wall that is difficult for the Spurs to penetrate. This time Darlow brilliantly blocked the ball from Erik Lamela’s free kick.
Apes for the host, at the end of the match after seeing VAR referee Peter Bankes decided to give Newcastle a penalty. The ball looks like Eric Dier. Callum Wilson, who became the executioner, carried out his duties perfectly. Score 1-1 draw lasted until the game was over. Spurs’ bad luck continued until the game ended following a red card received by Harry Kane after the referee blew the long whistle for loud protests.
