Tottenham Hotspur brought in Benfica Young Players

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Tottenham Hotspurs managed to bring in young players from Benfica. Gedson Fernandes was loaned to Spurs for 18 months with a permanent buy option. The transfer was at once the first recruit for Jose Mourinho.

Reporting from BBC Sports, Spurs themselves still have the opportunity to permanently Fernandes by paying 65 million euros or equivalent to Rp 988 billion. Previously, other English League clubs, Chelsea and West Ham were also interested in recruiting Fernandes.

The 21-year-old footballer has had 53 appearances for Benfica and has presented the Primeira Liga Portugal title.

Jose Mourinho’s decision to recruit Gedson Fernandes is not without reason. Spurs are currently hit by an injury storm in his squad which befell important players such as Harry Kane, Tanguy Ndombele, and Moussa Sissoko.

Mourinho saw the figure of Gedson Fernandes could patch the hole left by Sissoko. Gedson himself has also been touted as a future midfielder for Portugal.

Benfica itself encloses Gedson with a fairly high price. Gedson Fernandes’s contract at Benfica reached 102 million pounds or around 1.8 trillion rupiahs. Gedson chose to join Tottenham because of two factors: Jose Mourinho and the Premier League.

“All young players would want to work with Jose Mourinho because he is one of the best coaches in the world. All players would want to be close to the best figures. So, it would be fantastic to work with him,” said Gedson on the Spurs official website.

“Premier League is a different competition. Every player in this world wants a career in the Premier League. For me, this is an additional motivation because I always dreamed of playing in this league,” he concluded.
