Tottenham Hotspur Officially Extends Eric Dier’s Contract until 2024
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur officially extended the duration of their midfielder’s contract Eric Dier until 2024. The 26-year-old player has became a very important part of the team’s defense under Jose Mourinho who took over the coach position after Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed last November.
Dier, who will be out of contract next summer, has 239 times defended Spurs and scored 11 goals.
“There have been many obstacles this season, since the start of the season. It’s very hard for everyone in a different way from everything that happened,” Dier said on the Spurs page, Wednesday (7/22).
Spurs are seventh in the league standings after packing 58 points from 37 matches and will finish the season by visiting Crystal Palace this weekend in hopes of securing a place in the Europa League.
Dier will return to strengthen the club after being banned four games by the Football Association for fighting with fans after Spurs lost on penalties to Norwich City in the fifth round of the FA Cup last March.
“Hopefully in the last match against Crystal Palace we can get a win and be in Europe next season,” Dier said. “I am very happy to continue here and happy to be committed to our new journey now with our new manager,” he concluded.
