UEFA Sanctions Manchester City on Political Basis

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Ferran Soriano, as CEO of Manchester City, questioned the sanction handed down by UEFA to his team. He revealed Man City had never broken the rules that have been set and UEFA sentenced the Cityzens on political grounds alone.

On Saturday (15/02), Manchester City was sentenced to a ban on appearing in the Champions League for two seasons plus a fine of 30 million Euros. This sentence was handed down after The Cityzens proved to have violated the rules of Financial Fair Play (FFP).

“There are two things that I can promise to supporters. First, we did not violate the UEFA rules. Second, we will try our hardest to prove that, “Ferran Soriano stated.

“Based on our experience and perception, this sentence was handed down not because of sports reasons. However, for political reasons, “added Soriano.

Furthermore, Soriano also said that the money owned by Manchester City did not come from the owner, Sheikh Mansour. According to him, The Cityzens did receive quite a lot of money from its sponsors.

“The club owner did not give the funds to us as UEFA has alleged. We are a club that can stand on our own feet. We make a profit and don’t have debt, “Soriano stressed.

Manchester City is certain to appeal the sentence to the High Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland. Although it is unclear when they would appeal, The Cityzens had expressed their intention to immediately resolve this issue.
