DBasia.news – Granit Xhaka’s injury is a big loss for Arsenal. However, Mikel Arteta was calm as the Gunners had other players to cover Xhaka’s absence.

Granit Xhaka suffered an injury while leading Arsenal to defeat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium last weekend. The Swiss national team midfielder clashed with Lucas Moura. He was unable to continue the game and had to be withdrawn in the 82nd minute.

Xhaka’s injury turned out to be quite serious. The results of further examinations diagnosed Xhaka with an injury to the ligaments of his right knee. He is expected to be out for three months to recover from this injury.

Xhaka’s absence is a big loss for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. As the 29-year-old midfielder has become Arteta’s mainstay in Arsenal’s midfield.

Xhaka has appeared in four Arsenal matches until the sixth week of the Premier League. He was only absent twice, and even then because of the ban due to a red card.

However, Arteta is also grateful that Xhaka was able to avoid a more severe injury. It is very likely that Xhaka will not need to undergo surgery to restore his injury.

Arteta believes Xhaka has a good mentality to recover from this injury. The Spaniard also tried not to worry about Xhaka’s absence. He thinks Arsenal have other players to cover the absence of this Basel-born midfielder.

“So, that’s what happened. He has a great mentality and knows what he has to do now. Hopefully he doesn’t have to undergo surgery. This is a very important thing,” Arteta said as quoted by the Mirror.

“And after that, start preparing as best you can because time is running out. It’s a big loss. We’re going to lose him for a while. We’ll try to get him in the team as soon as possible.”

“He will develop and improve in other ways. This is the first major injury he has had.

“We’re here to help him and I’m sure we’ll find some way to deal with it in the team because we have grea players who can do the job,” Arteta explained.
