DBasia.news – Indonesia are no longer the great challenger for Thailand in the 2018 AFF Cup. Thailand national team coach Milovan Rajevac mentioned Vietnam as the team that could defeat his squad.
It could be seen from the progress of Vietnam football. This year, Vietnam surprised Asia two times. In 2018, Vietnam became the runner-up of the U23 Asian Cup. Park Hang seo squad could pass Australia and Syria in the group phase.
Vietnam went ahead of Iraq in the quarter-final and Qatar in the semifinal to play in the final round. The runner-up position went to Uzbekistan.
Vietnam’s surprise was still going on. In 2018 Asian Games, Golden Star reached the semifinal before defeated by South Korea.
Vietnam played perfectly in the round phase with three winnings against Pakistan, Nepal, and Japan before defeating Bahrain in the round of 16 and Syria in the quarterfinal.
“You will ever know the team formation and squad, but Vietnam is a great challenger,” Milovan Rajevac said.
However, Milovan Rajevac admits other teams. He thinks Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Singapore could stop Thailand’s way due to the squad.
“But we see Vietnam as the most difficult. They have a great squad and young players. The achievement in the young age was also great. Certainly, the future is bright for them,” said the Serbian coach in the interview with AFF Suzuki Cup.
