24 more points to become champions, Liverpool!
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool only needs 24 more points to lock in the Premier League championship in 2019/2020.
Premier League titles increasingly close to Anfield. In the postponement of the Premier League match at West Ham United headquarters on Thursday (30/01) early morning Western Indonesian Time, Liverpool won 2-0 through goals scored by Mohamed Salah (35 ‘penalty) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (52’).
The victory strengthened Liverpool at the top of the standings with 70 points, 19 points adrift of Manchester City in second. Meanwhile, David Moyes’ West Ham approached the relegation zone with 23 points.
The remaining 14 matches remaining, Manchester City – assuming continued victory – can collect maximum points of 93. No doubt for Liverpool they only need 24 more points to lock in the Premier League title last won in 1990 (still named Division One).
24 points mean eight wins in eight games. If Liverpool can maintain its consistency as it is today, the next eight matches against Southampton, Norwich City, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth, Everton, Crystal Palace, and Man City can they win.
Of course, the note is more special if they can ensure the Premier League title at Etihad Stadium, the headquarters of Man City, the defending champion twice in a row on 4 April. Liverpool can even break the record points in the Premier League. But, Jurgen Klopp ignored him.
“We are in Liverpool with a good history. Everyone knows what we have to do and the motivation behind it, not for a record point,” Jurgen Klopp said on the club’s official website.
“If a record point occurs, it is a side effect and we will accept it. But we are not really focused on that,” he continued.
Klopp also does not care if his team appears underperformance as long as it is able to win three points (winning ugly).
“I hope we can play better, but I accept and like today’s performance because if we easily win a lot of matches like this, of course, other teams will also easily do it,” added Klopp.
“(what Liverpool have achieved so far) It is really very difficult. We played great against Wolverhampton which was a difficult match. A few days before, we showed super performance against MU (Manchester United). Previously we also performed super,” he explained.
In addition to that record, another record set by Liverpool is the success of winning 70 points from 24 matches. This is the fastest record in the Premier League and no one has ever collected it from 24 matches.
Not only that, Liverpool have now conquered all of their opponents in the Premier League. The last thing they did was in the 1895-96 season or 125 years ago in the second katas competition in English football.
