5 Reasons Why Parma Could Be Surprising This Season
By news-admin
Parma
DBasia.news – The 2-0 victory against Cagliari continued the positive trend after Parma has successfully humiliated the strong team FC Internazionale with a 1-0 score in the previous Giornata. Overall, despite the 1-2 defeat of Juventus and 0-1 of SPAL, also 2-2 draw against Udinese, Parma always prove that they could counter the opponent’s performance.
Here are some reasons why Parma have the ammunition to not only fighting to pass the degradation zone:
- Historical Factor
The first factor that mustn’t be forgotten is the history. Before the bankruptcy in March 2015, Parma were one of the most respected teams in the 1990s and beginning of 2000s. In that period, the team won the UEFA twice, Winners Cup, and Italian Cup. No wonder, the team once supported by world-class players like Roberto Sensini, Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluigi Buffon, and even Lilian Thuram.
- Coach Understands the Team
The first key player is obviously Roberto D’Aversa as the coach. He has been handling the team since December 2016, since Parma were still struggling in the Serie C. Thanks to D’Aversa, Parma have successfully promoted in three consecutive seasons (from Serie C to Serie B and Serie A). Previously, there were no Italian teams that could do that. Now, Parma are in Serie A, and D’Aversa really understands the team.
- Senior and Experienced Players
Ahead of the 2018-2019 Serie A, Parma’s transfer activity was better compared to two other promotional teams: Empoli and Frosinone. The management successfully signed important and experienced players in the high competition level. Let’s say the Portuguese central back, Bruno Alves. In the goalkeeper, there is a former Napoli player, Luigi Sepe. In the attacking line, there are Gervinho (formerly AS Roma) and Roberto Inglese (formerly Chievo Verona) who really know about Serie A atmosphere.
- Potential Young Player
One of Parma’s keys in playing quick is the quick movements from young players. The most promising one is obviously the only goal creator to Inter, the 20-year-old Federico Dimarco. Also the defending midfielder, Leo Stulac, 23.
- Deadly Attacking Line
Despite the promotional status, Parma’s front line is one of the deadliest formations in Serie A this season. D’Aversa could utilize Inglese’s accuracy in the penalty box. Also, Parma have two quick players: Gervinho and Antonio Di Gaudio, who could do the counter-attack very well. No wonder, Inglese and Gervinho have successfully scored two goals.
