Abdelhak Nouri Begins to Recover After Severe brain Injury
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Abdelhak Nouri suffered permanent brain damage in 2017 while he was with Ajax Amsterdam. Now he has shown signs of recovery.
Nouri collapsed on the field while defending Ajax Amsterdam in a trial against Werder Bremen in 2017. The incident made him suffer severe and permanent brain damage, caused by a lack of oxygen supply.
The condition had made Appie unable to play football anymore. His colleagues even had time to pay tribute with the crowd using the number 34, Nouri’s back number during plays.
Nouri’s hard times seem to have passed. He was already showing signs of consciousness according to his brother, Abderrahim.
“He has not been home in a while, we are treating him there now. I must say that because he is at home, his condition is much better than at the hospital,” Abderrahim said as quoted by Metro.
“He realized where he was, he returned to the environment that was close to his family. He was no longer in a coma. He just woke up. He slept, he sneezed, he ate, he burped, but he had not gotten out of bed,” he continued.
“He still relies heavily on us. Everyday he communicates, for example, answering with his eyebrows or smiling. We talk to him like he’s not sick. We bring him to our conversation and we watch football together in the living room. Then he sees. You notice that he really enjoys it, “Abderrahim explained.
