Manchester United will sell two players for bringing in Donny van de Beek

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Ajax Amsterdam star, Donny van de Beek is close to completing a 40 million pounds move to Manchester United, subject to medical results.

The arrival of Van de Beek on a five-year contract further adds to the number of midfielders in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad. Quoted from the Daily Mail and Metro, Solskjaer reportedly wants to cut the number of midfielders by placing Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira on the sell list.

Both players have indeed been on the bench since last season and the arrival of Van de Beek will not do much to help their chances of playing regularly.

Lingard enjoyed a brief comeback at the end of last season when he scored the final goal for United’s domestic season before scoring again in their next game against LASK in the Europa League.

Meanwhile, Pereira is getting less and less playing time as Solskjaer has several players he is considering apart from the 24-year-old player.

At United, Van de Beek will compete with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Scott McTominay in midfield, while Juan Mata arguably has more chances than Lingard and Pereira for positions in Solskjaer’s first team.

Previously West Ham United expressed their interest in recruiting Lingard, while Benfica were the main candidates who were interested in Pereira’s signature.

Solskjaer hopes to raise funds from the sale of the two players to increase spending money to strengthen other areas of his squad.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to add a center-back before the transfer window closes but face competition from big European clubs to sign Red Bull Leipzig defender, Dayot Upamecano.
