DBasia.news – Marco Fassone revealed that AC Milan once tried to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in 2017. Fassone was the former AC Milan managing director.
Ronaldo who joined Juventus last July contributed the goal when Bianconeri won against AC Milan at San Siro last week.
Fassone thinks the former AC Milan owner, Li Yonghong, wanted to sign Ronaldo to Milan but failed due to the high transfer fee.
“Mr. Li wanted CR7 at the Rossoneri because he believed [Ronaldo] had great strength in the Chinese market,” Fassone.
“The player wanted to leave Madrid. We met in July 2017 with his agent Mendes to check the costs and his availability,” he said.
“It was then that I convinced him to give up the dream: Ronaldo was too expensive,” he uttered.
