DBasia.news – Organizer of the English League Cup, the EFL released Liverpool from the threat of disqualification because of violations committed by the club. Liverpool were known to have played players who did not meet the prerequisites to play. In exchange for the threat of disqualification, Liverpool are required to pay a fine of 200,000 pounds.
Reported by the official website of the EFL, Thursday AM, of the total fine of 100,000 pounds, of which are suspended until the 2020/2021 season.
The sentence relates to the play of Pedro Chirivella replacing Naby Keita in the second round of the League Cup third round match against MK Dons on September 25.
In fact, Chirivella is known to have not received an international transfer certificate (ITC) as a member of the Liverpool squad after its loan contract with Extremadura has expired.
“After a thorough consideration of the available evidence, the Council has decided that it was not necessary to disqualify Liverpool from the competition as there were several mitigating factors,” the statement said.
Liverpool are also threatened with a fine of another 100,000 pounds accompanied by additional sanctions for repeating similar mistakes in the League Cup from now until the end of next season’s competition.
As such, Liverpool remain entitled to a fourth round match against Arsenal which is scheduled to take place on October 29 at Anfield.
