Antoine Griezmann Officially Wear Jersey Number 7 in Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona striker Antoine Griezmann will no longer wear the jersey number 17 in the 2020-2021 season which will start soon. The French national team player finally returns to wearing the number 7.
Griezmann is indeed synonymous with number 7. He always wore the jersey number 7 when defending Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, and the French national team.
The 29-year-old player has a special reason for choosing number 7. Griezmann tries to follow his idol, David Beckham, who is identical to that number when he strengthens Manchester United.
Barcelona announced the certainty of changing Griezmann’s jersey number via a video on his social media accounts. El Barca also involved NBA basketball player Kevin Durrant.
“It is an honor to wear the number 7 at Barca! I would like to thank Philippe Coutinho who is a great player and a great friend,” said Griezmann.
Throughout last season, number 7 Barcelona actually did not have an owner after Philippe Coutinho was loaned out to Bayern Munich. However, Griezmann could not use it because it had already been registered.
Griezmann has now added to the list of world-class bombers who use the number 7 in Barcelona. David Villa, Javier Saviola, Henrik Larsson, to Pedro Rodriguez.
Griezmann certainly hopes that this jersey number change will restore his sharpness. Last season when he wore the number 17, he was only able to score 15 goals in 48 matches.
This change of jersey number also becomes a kind of confirmation of Griezmann’s future at Barcelona. Previously, he was rumored to be released because he appeared disappointing throughout the last season.
