DBasia.news – Arsenal confirmed, Gabriel Martinelli will be absent in the first half of the 2020/21 season due to an injury to his left knee.

The 19-year-old player has suffered damage to his left knee during a training session on June 21, and he underwent surgery at the end of last month.

Martinelli had to be absent for the rest of the season, even though he appeared impressively in his inaugural season after being recruited from Ituano in the summer of last year at a price of £ 8 million.

The Brazilian scored ten goals in 26 appearances for the Gunners in various competitions, despite appearing as a coating for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

However, manager Mikel Arteta will not be able to use Martinelli’s power at the start of his full season as a coach at Emirates Stadium.

“The surgery was a success, with consultants and the medical team very much encouraged Gabi’s progress at this stage of recovery,” the club said on their official website.

“[He] is currently at our training center with daily attention from specialists and support from the medical team.”

“[He] will continue to recover throughout the end of the season, with the aim of returning to full training by the end of 2020.”

Arsenal also informed that Pablo Mari will return to action soon in September, after being missing since the team lost 3-0 to Manchester City on June 17.

The 26-year-old player had to be pulled over early in the first half after suffering from ankle ligament damage, and taken to Spain undergoing therapy for his injury.

“[Mari] will return to England in July to continue rehabilitation at our training center throughout the end of the season, with the aim of returning to full training in September,” Arsenal said in a statement.
