DBasia.news – Unai Emery, as Arsenal manager, thinks realistically about the level of his team with the top two Premier League teams, Manchester City and Liverpool. Emery hopes that fans can understand this.
Arsenal have not won the Premier League for a long time since 2004. In the last three seasons, Arsenal also failed to penetrate the top four, aka the Champions League zone. Therefore, the target of entering the top four of the Premier League is a realistic target for Arsenal in the 2019-20 season.
“We have to be realistic and the distance between Liverpool and Manchester City with us (a lot) points. We want to reduce it, we want to be more competitive,” Emery said, quoted from Goal.
“We have to improve the defense but not lose the offensive power because our first idea was to develop with this team being offensive. Sometimes, it’s true we suffer from a defensive side and have balance.”
“Sometimes, we have a balance this year. Our challenge is to continue to do it and with other teams that we know, we are realistic. At present, Manchester City and Liverpool are very strong, but we want to do it our way,” he explained.
Furthermore, according to Emery, it is not easy for his team to enter the Champions League zone, because competing teams will also get stronger this season.
“To be in the top four difficulties because Tottenham is developing, Chelsea are also defending their players (except selling Eden Hazard) and can maintain performance. Manchester United lagged behind us last season, but they have a lot of potentials to be a team,” added Emery.
“We have to believe in our way, we have to believe in our process, trust our players. We have very good and young players. We want to bring in two or three players to help us do our own thing,” he concluded.
