Arsenal ties Gabriel Martinelli with a Long-Term Contract
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal has officially tied their wonderkid, Gabriel Martinelli with a long-term contract. The 19-year-old Brazilian striker signed his new contract exactly one year after he joined the Gunners.
Previously, Arsenal reached a new contract agreement with Bukayo Saka who was 18 years old. 48 hours later, it was Martinelli’s turn, the 19 year old signed a long-term contract extension.
Since joining Arsenal a year ago from Brazilian club, Itiano, Martinelli has contributed ten goals in 26 matches. But he has been out for the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury.
“I am pleased that Gabi has signed a new contract with us,” manager Mikel Arteta said on the club’s website.
“He is a talented young player and has impressed us with his performance, attitude and level of performance.”
“We are looking forward to fully recovering and witnessing his progress at the club,” Arteta added.
Martinelli is the first young player to score 10 goals in a season for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka 20 years ago.
Martinelli’s neat appearance with Arsenal could interest a few big clubs. In the January transfer window, Real Madrid reportedly targeted the player who twice appeared to strengthen the Brazilian U-23.
