AS Roma Still Cannot Rise From Defeat
By db-admin
DBasia.news – AS Roma still can not rise from the defeat that befell it in early 2020. This is evident from the Serie A match week 23. AS Roma bowed 2-3 from Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday (08/02) early morning Western Indonesian Time.
Roma ‘s two goals scored by Stefano Denswill (22 ‘) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (72’) lost to Bologna’s three goals scored by Riccardo Orsolini (16 ‘) and two goals by Musa Barrow (26’ and 51 ‘). Worse yet, Roma made by Paulo Fonseca played with 10 players when Bryan Cristante was sent off in the 80th minute.
In two goalkeepers Roma conceded seven goals – previously lost 2-4 to Sassuolo. If you look at the overall appearance of Rome in Serie A since January 2020, Rome won only once against Genoa (3-1) on 20 January.
The rest, Roma failed to win against Torino (0-2), Juventus (1-2), Lazio (1-1), Sassuolo (2-4), and Bologna (2-3). According to Fonseca, his team played tense and saw psychological problems, especially from the way they survived.
“I must say the team has really felt the final defeat of Sassuolo, so we lacked confidence since the beginning of the night (against Bologna),” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.
“The defenders are nervous, as seen from the way we conceded the first two goals. We reacted in the second half, but with a red card, it became more difficult.”
“We are making a lot of mistakes in the back line at the moment and it is a psychological problem,” continued the former Shakhtar Donetsk coach.
Roma has won just one point from their last four home games in Serie A. Roma’s left-back, Aleksandar Kolarov, acknowledged that early 2020 Roma was not good. But, he and his teammates will work hard to return the team to the pace of victory.
“We lost the match, Bologna deserved to win, that’s all,” Kolarov said.
“2020 we have not started well, but this period can occur for one season. All we can do is keep our heads down and work harder.”
“We know Bologna is hard to beat and dangerous on the counterattack. Our pressures are not good enough and that makes us difficult during the counterattack. Bologna really deserves to win and we don’t perform according to our standards today. We do more good after halftime, but that’s not enough. “
“There are many elements in the negative period, but as the oldest of the group, I remain close to my friends, we discuss it, know what we need to do and move forward,” said the former Manchester City player.
Atalanta can stay away from Rome if he wins the match against Fiorentina. In the next match, Roma will play an important match in the race for the Champions League zone against Atalanta. Currently, Edin Dzeko and friends are in fifth place with 39 points.
