DBasia.news – Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu attended the National Day of Catalonia. However, the club emphasized that they didn’t support the political referendum movement of Catalonia.

‘Mes Que un Club’ is one of the nicknames of Barcelona. It means ‘More Than Just a Club’ and becomes the tagline for Blaugrana.

The sentence isn’t just bullshit. In fact, Barcelona are the symbol of the Catalans to fight for their freedom.

The condition made Barcelona hated by the Spanish government in the past, General Franco. At that time, the Spanish government marginalized Blaugrana.

The past made Barcelona supporters made the club as the struggling symbol. Moreover, some Blaugrana players are supporting Catalonia referendum.

However, apparently, Barcelona didn’t ask the players to support Catalonia referendum. Blaugrana let the players decide.

“It is not political, but an institutional position, we are in favor of the right to decide and freedom of expression,” said Barcelona vice president, Jordi Cardoner.

“We respect each and every one of our partners’ positions. The situation in our country must be resolved through dialogue and agreement,” he added.

September 11 is the National Day of Catalonia. It is traditional for prominent members of Catalan society to lay flowers beneath the monument to Rafael Casanova called La Diada.
