Barcelona is Interested in bringing in City’s Young Player
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona is reportedly interested in obtaining the services of Manchester City’s young player, Eric Garcia. Eric Garcia is an alumni of the La Masia academy.
The 19-year-old center-back left La Masia in 2017 for the Manchester City academy. In the last two years Garcia was trained by Pep Guardiola, a former Barcelona coach who also came from Spain.
Barcelona is interested in sending Eric Garcia back to the succession of Gerard Pique. Nevertheless Guardiola hopes that Garcia would stay like Phil Foden, especially after Man City released two talents from their academy: Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz.
Guardiola greatly admired him with his mature game even though he is not in his twenties. City also hopes that Garcia can play as a right-back to fill the void left by Vincent Kompany.
No doubt Guardiola firmly answered the rumors of Barcelona’s interest in Eric Garcia. Guardiola hopes the player can stay at the club while talking to Barcelona if they are really interested in him.
“Eric has one more year in his contract (with City). If Barca wants him, they need to call (City). But we will try and convince him (to stay) because we want him here for years,” said Guardiola as quoted from Sport-English.
“We want him to stay here. But if he decides he doesn’t want to, there is nothing we can do. The player, his agent and his family all know that we trust him.”
Eric Garcia has a contract in Man City until 2021. So far Guardiola has made him a coating for Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, and Aymeric Laporte in the player rotation policy.
