Bayer Leverkusen Bring in Patrik Schick as Kai Havertz’s Replacement

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Bayer Leverkusen need to find new players to fill Kai Havertz’s position in attack. It didn’t take long, Leverkusen brought in Patrik Schick from AS Roma.

Schick was recruited from Rome at a cost of up to 27 million euros which could increase if several conditions were met. The forward from Czech Republic is contracted until 2025.

Leverkusen did move quickly after Havertz’s departure to Chelsea last weekend. Given that the Bundesliga will roll out in two weeks, the new striker should at least be able to adjust in the first match.

Moreover, Leverkusen also lost another forward, Kevin Volland, who decided to go to AS Monaco with a tag of 15 million euros.

“With the arrival of Patrik Schick, we are recruiting players of international level who have shown their goal instincts in Serie A and the Bundesliga, impressively and consistently,” said Leverkusen Sports Director Rudi Voeller on the official Bundesliga website.

Schick last season spent with Leipzig on loan from AS Roma. Despite scoring 10 goals in 28 matches, Leipzig was not quite satisfied with the player’s performance and Roma asked for a high price.

Therefore, Schick decided to accept Leverkusen’s proposal. Schick played for about two years in Serie A with Sampdoria and Roma. His arrival to Rome in January 2017 did not go smoothly because he only scored eight goals in 58 matches.

Whereas with the Czech Republic national team, Patrik Schick scored nine goals in 22 matches or an average of almost one goal per 2.5 matches.
