DBasia.news – Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has officially collected the most appearances in Serie A history on Saturday (28/9) night Western Indonesian Time. He managed to break the record that previously belonged to AC Milan legend, Paolo Maldini.
Gianluigi Buffon broke the record when it was revealed by Maurizio Sarri in the match against SPAL at the Allianz Stadium. The match became the 902nd for Buffon in Serie A. It surpassed Paolo Maldini’s record of collecting 901 appearances.
Buffon’s first Serie A party was born in the match between Parma vs. AC Milan in 1995. In his debut match as a goalkeeper, Buffon managed to score a clean sheet after the match ended with an equally strong score, 0-0.
Throughout his career, Buffon was only two seasons playing outside Serie A. His first season playing outside Serie A occurred in 2005. At that time, he remained part of the Juventus squad who had to play in Serie B which was the aftermath of the Calciopoli scandal.
