Capello’s Story Rejected Juventus Barter Bids between Edgar Davids and De Rossi

By db-admin

DBasia.news – While still training AS Roma, Fabio Capello had targeted Juventus midfielder Edgar Davids. But his desire must disappear when Juventus offers a barter.

Capello handled Roma in the 1999-2004 range. He successfully led the Giallorossi won the Scudetto in the 2000/2001 season, which became the capital team’s last league title to date.

The legendary coach who before with Rome was able to deal with AC Milan and Real Madrid, said that he was interested in recruiting Davids from Juventus. The Dutch national team midfielder did strengthen the Bianconeri from 1997 to 2004.

But Capello’s interest did not materialize, because Juventus demanded De Rossi, an academy graduate who had begun to climb at the time. De Rossi eventually became one of Rome’s best educators after Francesco Totti.

“I used to want to bring Davids to Rome, then Juve asked De Rossi as part of the agreement. I said, no,” Capello told Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Football Italia.

“After giving him his debut, I reminded everyone that this player will not leave Rome. He proved his character as a true leader from the start,” he added.

Interestingly, Capello actually had the chance to deal with Davids when he moved to Juventus in the summer of 2004. But at the same time, the Turin club sold Davids to Inter Milan.
