Carlo Ancelotti: Manchester City Do Not Have a Clear Identity

DBasia.news – Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti said Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City “do not have a clear identity” so that was considered a positive for the Citizens when pursuing a historic quadruple.
The Toffees will try to end City’s chances of winning four titles in the 2020/21 season when they host their rivals in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday (21/3).
Ancelotti, the former coach of AC Milan, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, realizes that his team will face a tough challenge to beat City.
“I want to talk about Manchester City. Manchester City are a fantastic team, but they don’t have a clear identity,” Ancelotti told reporters.
“Sometimes they build [attacks] with three, sometimes with two, sometimes with their right-back playing as a holding midfielder.”
“They have clear principles. This is the difference.”
“Sometimes they don’t play with center-forward, they play with No 10 as center-forward, so Manchester City’s identity is not clear. If they have a clear identity you can better overcome their sharpness, but the fact is they change sharpness.”
“What has not changed are their principles of keeping the ball, having possession and to show the quality they have. Their principles have never changed.”
Ancelotti is a coach who has proven successful by winning league titles and the Champions League with his former clubs.
Everton are in the process of becoming a strong team. Allan, James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Ben Godfrey have already signed, but Ancelotti is looking to add new players when the summer transfer window opens.
“To improve we have to increase the knowledge of the players we have. We still have young players in the squad, and we have to improve the quality of the squad with new recruits,” said Ancelotti again.
