Chelsea Reportedly Followed in Liverpool’s Steps to Bring in Timo Werner
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea are reportedly interested in following Liverpool’s steps to bring in RB Leipzig striker, Timp Werner into the summer transfer window.
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard recently confirmed that his club will be active when the closest transfer window reopens. The London club seems to want to add new ammunition on the front lines.
Olympique Lyon striker, Moussa Dembele was rumored to be on Chelsea’s radar, but the 23-year-old French player’s worth £ 60 million has made the Blues have to think twice about recruiting him in the midst of the current corona virus pandemic.
Reported by ESPN, Chelsea have now turned their aim to Werner as a potential option ahead of the 2020/21 season competition.
Chelsea hopes to convince Werner to join Stamford Bridge with a regular offer of play.
According to reports, Chelsea are ready to activate Werner’s release clause for £ 49 as well so they can bring in the 24-year-old German player.
Liverpool are said to be more likely to obtain Werner in the summer of 2020, but so far no club has made a concrete bid. That has made Chelsea still have a chance to bring in the striker.
Werner made a total of 154 appearances for Leipzig in various compositions since the 2016/17 season, scoring 92 goals.
In this 2019/20 season, Werner scored 31 goals in 40 appearances in various competitions, including 25 goals from 29 matches in the Bundesliga.
Werner scored his 25th goal in the Bundesliga this season when Leipzig defeated Koln 4-2 at the weekend.
