Timo Werner Said Joining Chelsea Was the Right Decision

By db-admin

DBasia.news – New Chelsea player Timo Werner admitted that joining the Blues instead of Liverpool was the right decision. Previously, Werner was also linked with Jurgen Kloop’s squad before finally deciding to join Stamford Bridge.

The comments heated up the situation ahead of Chelsea against Liverpool this weekend in the Premiere League. Werner was signed by the Blues this summer from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of £47.6 million.

Reports in Germany said Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp had spoken directly with Werner to ensure he would join Anfield. But at that time Liverpool did not make an official offer because they were still experiencing a crisis due to the impact of COVID-19.

Chelsea took the opportunity after there were symptoms of uncertainty about Liverpool signing Werner. The Germany international agreed when an offer came from Chelsea. He didn’t even play for RB Leipzig in the Champions League to fly to England immediately.

“When I decided to leave Leipzig, I spoke with a different club, of course,” Werner said in a press conference quoted by ESPN, Thursday (17/9).

Werner said that apart from Chelsea, several other clubs had also glanced at him. But he claims the best decision has been made, namely Chelsea.

According to Werner, not because of Chelsea’s preferred style of play, but because of the seriousness shown by this club. He admitted choosing between two great clubs, namely Liverpool and Chelsea, was very difficult.

Even so, Werner felt proud that he could decide where to go. So far, after two months with Chelsea, Werner feels comfortable and thinks Frank Lampard’s team is a brilliant squad.

“We have some very good players, but always calm. It’s great to play here at Chelsea, to be part of the team. We can do very well with this team in the coming months and years,” concluded Werner.
