DBasia.news – Christian Pulisic arrived at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s headquarters, and was introduced to the public after being recruited from Borussia Dortmund.
The Blues purchased him from Dortmund in January 2019 for £ 58 million. Pulisic ended four years of journey with Dortmund (counted from the academy). His arrival was allegedly in anticipation of the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, Pulisic did not want to compare himself with the Belgian wing striker. Pulisic hopes to reach the level playing of Hazard in his own way.
“Eden is a fantastic player, we all know that. If I can approach him (the level of play), I will be much happier. But, I came to be myself. I hope a lot from myself, for me that is enough,” said Pulisic, quoted from the Goal.
“It is clear there is outside pressure – that is also my prediction to happen. I want to be successful, be part of this team and make an impact. It is all my goals and become the best player as much as possible,” he continued.
Pulisic also tried to scent the United States by trying to make history at Chelsea. The hope, Pulisic can be as successful as its predecessors in the Premier League such as Clint Dempsey, Brian McBride, Brad Guzan, Tim Howard.
“I want to try to prove that US players can do it. I just want to make history and represent my country, obviously. So, we get more respect,” added Pulisic.
“I thought at first they thought: ‘Who is this American player trying to take my place of play?’. You want to prove to them that you are good enough (playing for Chelsea).”
Pulisic was promoted from the Dortmund academy in 2016 and scored 19 goals and gave 26 assists in 127 appearances with Dortmund. Just like Hazard, Pulisic played as a wing attacker.
