Club President Passed Away, Sassuolo Delays the Match
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The sad news is enveloping Italian football. The president of the Sassuolo club, Giorgio Squinzi, passed away on Thursday (3/10).
Giorgio Squinzi died of a long illness. He died at the age of 76. The departure of the Sassuolo owner left a deep sorrow for the fans, players, and club staff.
He is the most credited person to bring the club based in Mapei Stadium to appear in Serie A for the first time in 2013-2014. His cold hands were successfully spawned several star players such as Domenico Berardi, Stefano Sensi, and Matteo Politano.
With these services, it’s no wonder that Sassuolo has lost the leader and ‘father’ in the team. As a form of the club’s last tribute to the president, they also postponed this weekend’s Serie A match against Brescia.
All players, staff, coaches, and fans will release Giorgio Suinzi to his final rest on Monday. He will be cremated at the Milan Duomo Cathedral.
As for the postponed match against Brescia, the Serie A has determined the match will take place on 18th of December.
