Controversy Over the FA Cup Rematch, Jurgen Klopp Assessed Lazy

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Juergen Klopp’s controversy over lowering the U-23 team in the FA Cup replay match continues.  He was absent from the match so there was an assumption that Juergen Klopp was lazy.

Liverpool will field young players in an FA Cup replay match against League One team Shrewsbury Town at Anfield on 4 February 2020.  The two teams drew 2-2 at New Meadow on a normal schedule on Monday (1/27) early morning Western Indonesian Time yesterday.

The replay schedule was a problem for Liverpool because it was held in the middle of the winter break period on 2-16 February.  Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp, who did not want to cut players’ allotted time, ensured that the U-23 team would compete.

Klopp also delegated the task of accompanying the team to U-23 team manager Neil Critchley, because he and his coaching staff were also off at that time.  These decisions are polemic.

The step down the U-23 team alone has made Liverpool called no respect for the FA Cup, which is the oldest soccer tournament in the world.  Klopp’s decision to absent strengthened the spotlight on the Merseyside team.

Former England national team defender Rio Ferdinand said it was actually no problem Klopp played young children, but he himself had to accompany the team.  But Klopp did not want to bother with external evaluations of him.

“I don’t want to be in the middle of this whole discussion. I am not a revolutionary figure or anything. I am not trying to show the whole world how strong I am, obviously, that is not the reason,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

“If people think I’m lazy because I don’t attend the match, I can’t change that. If people call me things they like, I can’t change that.”

“But I am not very interested in that because the only responsibility I feel is for my players, and if I may be 100% honest, for all players as well,” said the German man.
