Criticized for not wanting to cut his salary, Mesut Ozil reveals his reason

DBasia.news – Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil has received harsh criticism for his decision to refuse a pay cut amid the Covid-19 virus pandemic. Knowing that he received harsh criticism, the German player gave his reason.

He said he had the right to know everything regarding the use of finances at Arsenal. Ozil said he did not receive enough information regarding the request.

“As players, we all want to contribute. But we need more information and a lot of unanswered questions,” Ozil stated.

“For anyone in this situation, you have the right to know everything, to understand why it is happening and where the money is going. But we don’t get it in detail, we just have to make a decision and it’s too fast for something that’s important with a lot of pressure,” he added.

Ozil admitted in having many dependents outside of football such as his family and charity projects both in Turkey and in Germany. He also said that he was not the only player who refused the salary cut.

“I think it’s because there are people who are trying to destroy me, make me unhappy and paint a false picture of me,” he continued.

“Maybe the decision affected my chances on the pitch, I don’t know. But I’m not afraid to defend what I feel is right,” he concluded.
