David Luiz’s Ability Is Overrated

By db-admin

DBasia.news – David Luiz has often made mistakes that lead to losses for his team. There is an assumption that the Arsenal defender is too exaggerated regarding his abilities.

Luiz became highlighted by Arsenal fans after he performed poorly in the match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, Thursday (6/18/2020). The Gunners had to go home with a 0-3 defeat over The Citizens.

The first two goals scored by City were created because of Luiz’s mistake. The Brazilian defender failed to dispel Kevin de Bruyne’s pass, which caused the ball to bounce towards Raheem Sterling who converted it into a goal in the first half of injury time.

In the second half, Luiz continued to make a blunder by breaking Riyad Mahrez in the penalty box. He was then rewarded with a red card by the referee, while City successfully used the gift of 12 kicks right into a goal that was executed by De Bruyne.

It was not the first time that Luiz made a mistake that resulted in a penalty for the rival team. Squawka noted, the former Chelsea defender has violated four opposing players in his own penalty box since the beginning of this season.

The series of blunders was apparently highlighted by Ruud Gullit, a former AC Milan and Chelsea star. He without hesitation called Luiz as an overrated player with abilities that were below average.

“Yes, David didn’t do a good job. I thought he was an overrated player, really. I felt he still made sense when he was playing in midfield, but then there was rumors about how he was as a player,” Gullit stated.

“He prefers to play as a defender. Well, we all of course remember the duel between Brazil and Germany (2014 World Cup, Brazil defeated 1-7). I really could not understand it! Some clubs have gotten rid of him, but he is still back, ” added Gullit.
