Declining in Barcelona, Diego Simeone does not get Antoine Griezmann

DBasia.news – Antoine Griezmann seems to have completely lost his place in the Barcelona main squad after only playing a few minutes during a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid, Wednesday (1/7) AM. Which left Diego Simeone at a loss for words to comment on the fate of his former player.

In the match, Griezmann only entered the field when the game entered the 90th minute. Though Barcelona needed a goal to lock in the victory after a draw since the 62nd minute.

Barcelona coach, Quique Setien prefered to play Arturo Vidal on the front lines to accompany Messi and Suarez. He also played Ansu Fati to increase the power rather than Suarez.

That fact certainly felt unfortunate for Griezmann. His reputation as a quality striker and world champion seemed meaningless in Barcelona.

Simeone who contributed in developing Griezmann’s abilities also couldn’t help but think. He was certainly disappointed to see one of the best players he had trained to be treated like that by Barcelona.

“I cannot say anything (about Griezmann). We respect Barcelona with the quality they have,” Simeone said as quoted by Movistar.

The conditions which befell Griezmann in Barcelona are indeed very surprising. Though he was said to form a great trio with Messi and Suarez when brought in at 120 million euros from Atletico Madrid, last summer.

Instead of appearing neat, Griezmann actually had difficulty adapting to Barcelona’s playing style. He has only scored eight goals in LaLiga this season.

Now, Griezmann’s future in Barcelona is in question. Many predicts that the 29-year-old player will return to change clubs next season.
