Delayed El Clasico Duel, Joan Laporta Blames Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Although threatened with security problems because of the demonstration in Catalunya, former Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, considers that the El Clasico match must still be held. He also considered that the delayed duel was caused by Barcelona.
The Barcelona match against Real Madrid is planned to be held on Saturday (26/10). However, the match was postponed due to massive demonstrations in Catalunya in protest at the arrest of a number of activists who supported Catalunya’s independence.
Joan Laporta felt that the match should still be held at the appointed time. According to him, no politics should be placed in front of sports.
“I feel the match should still be held. They did not give a specific reason why on changing the date,” stated Laporta as reported by Marca.
“The match requires high security as it demonstrates high rivalry and is witnessed by many people. Therefore, in my opinion, there is no reason to postpone it,” he adeed.
One issue in Spain is the difference in attitude between RFEF and LaLiga operators. However, in the end, El Clasico has decided to be held on December 18, 2019.
“Yes, I will continue to carry out the match on Saturday, because if Madrid wants to play I do not see no problem. There are those who want to raise this issue for political purposes,” he continued.
“Barcelona is in the wrong as they criminalized an incident and has put politics in front of football which is very related. Football always intersects with politics.”
This edition of El Clasico match will affect the position of each team in the standings. At present, Barcelona are one point ahead of Real Madrid.
