Dele Alli Assessed Equivalent to Gerrard and Lampard
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Former England national team player, Jamie Redknapp, assess Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Dele Alli, has an ability equivalent to Premier League legends like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
“Alli will only be 24 years and six months away, but this boy is already above the others when you think of the people who graced the English midfield before him,” Redknapp said at Soccerway.
Alli was less consistent last season. He only contributed seven goals in all competitions with Tottenham. This made many parties criticize it. Redknapp also pairs up and defends the midfielder.
“Lampard for example, he played 185 Premier League matches before reaching the age of 24. He managed to score 43 goals. Gerrard played 170 matches and scored 47 goals. David Beckham played in 140 matches and got 65 goals. All great players, all big names.”
“On Saturday, Alli appeared in his 133rd match. During all the chaos of VAR, it seems we forget who scored Tottenham’s equalizer against Watford. It was Alli, who stylishly put the ball behind the goal for the 43rd time in his career. Add 29 assists, then he has been involved in 72 goals in the top flight.”
“It seems that there are a lot of short memories out there. Not long ago, Alli was one of Europe’s best midfield talents, linked with clubs like Real Madrid. He should not be underestimated,” said Redknapp.
Tottenham itself is now in position seven in the Premier League standings. Alli and his friends collected 12 points from nine matches.
