Didier Deschamps Discusses Antoine Griezmann’s Performance in Barcelona
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Responding to public criticism of Antoine Griezmann’s performance in Barcelona, Didier Deschamps, his coach at the French national team, spoke up.
“I’m not worried about Griezmann. Even if you have great players in Barcelona, that doesn’t happen in a day. It depends on how they play, how they work with each other,” Deschamps said at Soccerway.
Griezmann moved to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in the transfer market last summer. Azulgrana bought it with a value of 120 million euros (Rp 1.8 trillion).
The 28-year-old’s performance has so far been unstable. He has only contributed four goals in ten La Liga appearances.
According to Deschamps, Griezmann’s main obstacle to showing his sharpness in Barcelona is position. If in France or Atletico, he plays as a second striker, but at Camp Nou, he is shifted to left-winger.
“Griezmann is placed in a different position from his position in France, even though he has been playing on the wing for a long time. He must match the team and the other players. He didn’t choose the easiest solution and this is a big club, so his hopes are huge. He has always been part of the team, but he is not yet familiar with Barcelona’s style.”
“Even when Griezmann is not good, he is always positive for the team. With us, this is a different situation, a different position, he can play in his best position where I have placed him for a long time. “Of course, he has a very important role in the way we play,” Deschamps said.
