Djibril Cisse wants to continue to play for the record in Ligue 1

DBasia.news – The 38-year-old former Liverpool striker, Djibril Cisse is willing to play again without having to be paid in Ligue 1 to be able to obtain the record.
Cisse has stopped playing football since 2017 and has focused on his career as a DJ (Disc Jockey). Cisse played football again with the Swiss team, Yverdon (2017-18) and Vicenza (2018-19), but that only lasted for a short time.
But there is one thing that has disturbed Cisse who has recorded 96 goals in Ligue 1. The amount of goals he has obtained is only 4 goals away from being 100 and Cisse who was joking about the comeback from retirement is now seriously thinking about it.
“At first, it almost became a joke. But little by little, it really became hope (to return to play),” Djibril Cisse said to L’Equipe.
“I always say that passing the 100 goal mark is something that is very important to me. Four goals away bothers me. If that doesn’t happen, at least I will try and I can close the 100 goal book, but until I try everything, I will not calm down, “he explained.
“You have to see this as a bet, as an additional strength player and not as an element that can play 90 minutes. Even I can’t lie to myself to that extent, but I can still contribute,” added Cisse.
Cisse’s 96 goals were scored in Ligue 1 when playing with Auxerre, Olympique Marseille and Bastia.
With Marseille, Cisse scored 24 goals in mid 2006-2008, but instead with Auxerre (1998-2004) he appeared impressively with a record 70 goals from 128 Ligue 1 matches until Liverpool recruited him for 14 million pounds.
Together with Liverpool, Cisse won one FA Cup, Champions League and European Super Cup. Afterwards Cisse played in Marseille, Sunderland, Panathinaikos, Lazio, Queens Park Rangers, Kuban Krasnodar and Bastia. Cisse has 41 caps and nine goals with the French national team.
