By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool failed to take over the top ranking of the Premier League standings after being held to a 1-1 draw at Fulham in Week 12 of the Premier League, Monday (14/12) am. Having fallen behind first through Bobby Decordova-Reid’s goal in the first half, the Reds were able to equalize through Mohammed Salah’s penalty.
The course of the match
The intensity of Liverpool’s play was unusual at Fulham headquarters. Even though the trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane played, Fulham managed to steal the lead in the first half.
Precisely on the 25th minute. Ademola Lookman received the ball after going through a corner and handed it to Bobby De Cordova-Reid. Cordova-Reid immediately controlled the ball and found Alisson’s goal. 1-0 Fulham took the lead and held it until halftime.
The course of the second half can be predicted with this advantage. Fulham tried to maintain the advantage and close the line of defense and try to attack on the counterattack.
This situation can be seen with 25% of Fulham’s ball possession compared to Liverpool’s 75%. Liverpool’s patience to build attacks and lock up Fulham’s defense got was sheer luck.
On the 78th minutes Georginio Wijnaldum tried to kick the ball and the ball accidentally hit Aboubakar Kamara’s hand. A penalty was awarded and Mo Salah did not waste an opportunity to score an equalizer. 1-1.
The entry of Divock Origi, Neco Williams and Takumi Minamino could not change the position for Liverpool in the second half. The 1-1 score lasted until the game ended and Liverpool failed to coup Tottenham’s position.
Tottenham remained at the top of the standings with 25 points, equal to Liverpool in second place and separated by goal difference from the first 12 Premier League games.
