Due To Coronavirus Pandemic, AS Roma Players and Staffs Lost Four Months’ Salary

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  AS Roma’s players and management staff agreed not to receive four months of their salary to help the club in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic which is currently on the rise.

In addition they have also agreed to increase the salaries of club employees placed on the Italian government’s job retention scheme. With that the employees will continue to receive a net salary on deferred football.

The Serie A competition has been suspended since March after initially playing a few closed matches. Serie A clubs hope to return to training on May 4.

The agreement also states that if the 2019-20 season continues and is finished, the club, players, coaches, and staff have agreed to plan incentives that will be paid after reaching unspecified targets.

“We always talk about unity in Rome. By willingly cutting their salaries for the rest of the season, the players, coaches and staff have all proven that we are really involved in this matter together,” said AS Roma CEO Guido Fienga as quoted by Goal.

“Edin Dzeko, all the players and Paulo Fonseca have shown that they understand what this club means and we also thank them all for their extraordinary attitude towards the employees at this club.”

“We write to express our support for the club for everything done in this period to overcome the difficulties created by COVID-19. We players are ready to start playing as soon as possible, giving our best to achieve goals. But we also realize that none of this will be enough to face the economic consequences of the current state of emergency,” said a letter from the Roma player.

“In the hope of doing something that will help the club to get better, we offer this financial proposal. We also confirm all our support for the Rome and Rome Concern initiatives to help those who are troubled by viruses. Forza Roma!”

As of this writing, Italy has had more than 175,000 confirmed cases of the corona virus, with more than 23,000 people dead.
