Edinson Cavani is Closer to Manchester United

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United are getting closer to obtaining Uruguay striker, Edinson Cavani ahead of the close of the summer transfer market.

The Red Devils have been in the spotlight as so far they have only recruited one player, Donny van de Beek (midfielder) from Ajax Amsterdam. United have been linked with a number of names but there is no definite progress from them.

Some of those transfers that did not progress were Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Alex Telles (Porto), and Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona). This failure forced United to ‘swerve’ to pursue Edinson Cavani.

“Man United are closing in on Edinson Cavani’s deal! The agreement was reached on personal terms until 2022. The final details to be sorted out are the agent’s fees (10 million euros) then a deal will be made. United saw Cavani as an opportunity,” said Fabrizio Romano, a European football transfer expert.

Cavani (33 years old) does not have a club anymore since his contract ended with PSG (Paris-Saint Germain) this summer. Cavani has defended PSG for seven years after previously defending Palermo and Napoli.

In addition to Cavani, according to Romano United, they will also recruit another Portuguese talent, Facundo Pellistri from Penarol. As for Cavani, United’s previous target was not because he was being targeted by Benfica and Atletico Madrid.

However, with Cavani’s agent asking for a high fee of 10 million euros, Atletico and Benfica withdrew from the hunt, putting United as the only front club to achieve 116 caps and 50 goals for the Uruguay national team.

Cavani is reportedly traveling to England for medical tests and to sign a contract with United. He will add experience and quality to United’s front line which already has Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Odion Ighalo.
