Edinson Cavani, the figure behind the rise of Manchester United

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Edinson Cavani showed his quality as Europe’s top striker in the match against Southampton in the Premier League. Manchester United were behind 0-2 from the Saints but after Cavani entered the situation changed.

The Uruguay forward scored two goals and provided an assist for Bruno Fernandes’ goal. It showed his worth in wearing the number 7 jersey and has answered people’s doubts.

Because when United recruited him, Cavani was 33 years old and vulnerable to injury. Cavani spent a lot of time in PSG’s ward last season and his contract was not renewed.

Former United player, Paul Ince sees Cavani as a necessary striker, a ‘number 9’ striker United hasn’t had since Dimitar Berbatov, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Andy Cole, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robin van Persie.

Ince also sees Cavani as the pure attacking figure United needs, not Anthony Martial, who is more mobile or operating on the flanks, running a lot rather than finishing chances to score goals.

“Look, he’s (Cavani) world class,” Ince said of Cavani in Premier League Productions. “He’s not one of those strikers who will run in space or pull at center-backs but what he does is, if you put the ball in the right position, he’s going to score goals for you.”

“He’s probably what Man United needs, a proper center-forward. Martial is not a center forward. He can play along the lines but he’s not a pure center forward.”

“They tried it with (Odion) Ighalo, it didn’t work. This kid is world class. He knows the area to enter, he can feel the goals, he sniffs the goals and I think he will score more goals for United this year,” explained Ince.

Bruno Fernandes also praised Cavani as a striker who has high goal instincts. Cavani doesn’t move much but his intuition is good at seeing opportunities and scoring goals.
