Ernesto Valverde Discusses Antoine Griezmann’s Best Position
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The left side is rated by Ernesto Valverde as Antoine Griezmann’s best playing position in Barcelona.
Antoine Griezmann is Barcelona’s brand-new ammunition this season. The player came from Atletico Madrid with a fee of 125 million euros.
Barcelona supporters hope Griezmann can complete the front-line trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. However, until now, this hope has not yet come true.
Antoine Griezmann was criticized at the inaugural match of LaLiga. At that time, the former Real Sociedad player could not replace the role of Lionel Messi who was injured.
Now, the situation has not changed much. Griezmann remains a pedestal because Messi is still injured. Meanwhile, Luis Suarez is not as fit as before.
For that, Ernesto Valverde needs to find the best position for the player. Valverde plans to reduce Griezmann as a left-wing.
“When you look at statistics, he plays more often on the left or center. Carles Perez can also appear on the right-wing,” Valverde said as reported by Sport.
“I have often seen Griezmann appear in the left position for most of his career. I think he can look neat in that position. In addition, we also have wing-backs who can help the attack.”
Valverde believes, Griezmann will be more dangerous if pushed near the opponent’s defense area. “Upfront, near the penalty box area,” he explained.
