Gareth Southgate Likely to apply the Three Defenders Formation in the England National Team

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Seeing the England team conceding too easily, Gareth Southgate has began to think about the options to use three defenders.

England has made a number of mistakes at the back when they won 5-3 over Kosovo last month. At that time, the Three Lions were conceded three goals.

The same conditions were seen when the England national team faced the Czech Republic. In the match, Harry Kane were beaten 1-2 from the home team.

Harry Kane’s quick goal seemed meaningless for the England national team. Jakub Brabec and Zdenek Ondrasek turned things around and made the Czech Republic win.

As a result, Gareth Southgate is considering using a three-defender system for the England national team. Moreover, the formation was quite successful at the 2018 World Cup.

“There is a reason we did not change the system against the Czech Republic. Using three defenders? That is something I have thought of,” said Gareth Southgate.

“I am not sure about the match on Monday. However, in my opinion it is the right thing to do and the England national team is already thinking about that possibility.”

“In my opinion, players will have no difficulty adapting to new tactics, especially those who used to play at the highest level. We have to show ability,” he continued.

This is the first defeat of the England national team in the last 12 years in the European Cup qualifiers. Previously, The Three Lions had lost in 2007.
