Jack Grealish is not The Next Paul Gascoigne

By db-admin

DBasia.news – England coach, Gareth Souhgate disagrees if Jack Grealish is called The Next Paul Gascoigne. According to him, the level of play of the two is far different.

Grealish (25 years old) performed impressively with Villa and most recently scored two goals when his team crushed Liverpool, who are incidentally the defending Premier League champions with a score of 7-2. Steve McLaren and Martin Keown compared him to Gascoigne.

Gascoigne (53 years old) underwent a career in the 1985-2004 period, packing 57 caps and 10 goals with the England national team. For English football lovers Gascoigne is a footballer whom they love for his natural talent and love of football.

His tears at the 1990 World Cup will be timeless. No doubt Gascoigne is an idol for the British. Southgate also teamed up with the former Lazio player and spoke of his comparisons to Grealish.

Without wanting to underestimate the level of playing Grealish, Southgate thinks Gascoigne cannot be compared to anyone and that each player has its own uniqueness.

“I think he (Grealish) should enjoy it. He was outstanding that night. When you make your England debut at Wembley, it is an opportunity to be appreciated and remembered. He is not Jack who is 18 or 19 years old, he is more experienced than that,” said Southgate as quoted from Goal.

“He is used to praise, especially from his own supporters but he is highly rated in the game. He will be hungry to repeat that night and continue to show people what he is capable of.”

“I am aware that I do not want to reduce the enthusiasm for Jack. I always answer honestly about people and when you talk about Gascoigne, no player in the history of English football is at that level in my opinion.”

“I don’t want it to be a criticism towards Jack. I just think Gascoigne, who played with me, and I played with (Wayne) Rooney, (Steven) Gerrard, (Paul) Scholes, (David) Beckham and you can keep playing about a phenomenal and extraordinary striker who won the Champions League, won 100 caps with England and who broke the goalscoring record. “

“In many ways, I feel Gascoigne is very unique, and an extraordinary player, so I feel like I’m talking about Bobby Moore. I think with the young players who come, you shouldn’t burden them or tag them by comparing them to other people. Each one is unique with unique talents. “

“Jack has a different style to all the players I have listed and all the players in our squad. He handled the question  well and I understand the comparisons, but I think Gascoigne, as an individual, is on another level than anyone I have played with, “explained Southgate.

It wasn’t wrong for Southgate to think so. This fact can be seen in Ross Barkley, the Chelsea midfielder who is currently on loan at Aston Villa. Barkley was compared to Gascoigne and his performance was inconsistent.
