Southgate revealed his reason for not entering Greenwood and Bellingham

DBasia.news – England coach Gareth Southgate has announced the line-up he will take with him to the next international break. From the names entered, Mason Greenwood and Jude Bellingham were nowhere to be seen.

Gareth Southgate’s choice for the England national team raises a number of questions. One thing that stood out is the absence of Mason Greenwood and Jude Bellingham. In fact, both players have performed well on their respective teams.

Bellingham appeared more mature at Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Greenwood is often the breaker of the deadlock for Manchester United.

Apparently, the 51-year-old coach had strong reasons behind the decision not to enter Greenwood and Bellingham. Southgate did not want the career development of the two players to be disrupted. Southgate also denied any underhand agreements were made with the player’s owner’s club.

“I’ve spoken with both players. Right now, Bellingham is at the highest level. He plays in the Champions League and the Bundesliga,” Southgate said as reported by Metro.

“We have to understand that both players still have to grow physically. So when it comes to developing young players, we have to be careful in dealing with them.”

“They are two players who we think can be the future of England. However, we do not want to burden them . We have to make sure to make the right decisions,” said the tactician.

“So many decisions are taken when talking to players and families. There is no agreement whatsoever with the club.”

Next, The Three Lions will face Andorra on matchday 7 of Group I 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Sunday (10/10). Three days later, England will host Hungary.
