Guardiola believes Man City will escape UEFA’s sanctions in the Champions League
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola is optimistic his team will escape the penalty of appearing in European club competition for two seasons handed down by UEFA.
Earlier, Manchester City was sentenced to a ban on appearing in European competition after violating an agreement on the Financial Fair Play. The Citizens are known to have used funds from private owners to cover inequality in financial books.
In the end, UEFA imposed a ban on appearing in European competition for two seasons. The sentence is fairly severe as usually UEFA only reduced the rations of players who can be registered in the competition.
Manchester City does not remain silent. The Citizens has gathered a number of lawyers to bring UEFA to a sports arbitration court. The Citizens appealed the sentence to be aborted.
Now, Manchester City will soon find out the results. Pep Guardiola claimed to be ready with any decision.
“We are ready. I have a lot of trust with people if we will be allowed to compete in the Champions League. Because, we want to be on the field for years,” explained Guardiola as reported by FourFourTwo.
“On July 13, we will know the results. Hopefully we can grow as a club in the years to come.”
One of the worries of the sentence is the escape of a number of star players for not competing in the Champions League. The player most frequently reported to want to leave is Raheem Sterling.
